Change your Life with your Thoughts

Thinking is a creative power. Your physical body is the manifestation of the use of your creative thinking ability. Hence, right thinking leads to right results. Your thoughts are the most important tool you possess to achieve your dreams. They affect you in several ways- good and bad. The truth is, whether you admit or not, your thoughts are responsible for whatever situation you are in right now. Your thoughts drive your life just as electricity drives a motor. Therefore, it’s of extreme importance to have the right thoughts and to not let negativity poison your mind.
James Allen describes one of the best analogies on the power of positive thinking in his timeless classic “As a Man Thinketh.” The book’s basic message is “You are what you think.” He compares a human mind to a garden. If planted with beautiful plants and carefully nurtured, the garden will yield beautiful flowers and be a place of beauty and peace. Otherwise, the weeds will creep in and yield thorns and negativity.
Allen argues that a person’s character is the sum of all of their thoughts. Someone with a noble character must have kinderthoughts than the loathsome ones.
He further explains that each and every action takes place from a thought that the person has entertained. He writes the following lines: “As the plant springs from, and could not be without the seed, so every act of a man springs from the hidden seed of thought . . . Act is the blossom of thought, and joy and suffering are its fruit.”
Each thought you possess is a seed that you’re mindlessly planting in the garden of your mind. This garden can be positively cultivated, or it can be allowed to be chaotic, full of negative thoughts. If you want a particular type of plant to grow there, then those are the seeds you need to sow and nourish.
Every thought that is transformed into an action creates a result, and that result brings you either joy or misery. He refers to thoughts as “thought-seeds”. Hateful and bitter thoughts will produce pain and misery. Happiness will follow those who have noble, kind and positive thoughts.
The power of positive thinking will fetch good results exactly the way negative thinking will yield bad results.You cannot sow oranges and hope to reap apples. Similarly, you cannot cultivate negative thoughts and hope to live a positive life. You live what you think; you live what you say. Therefore, it is important to think the right thoughts and sometimes make a deliberate effort to do so through positive affirmations.
The best way keep your thoughts focused is by creating a list of life goals, and to keep those goals at the forefront of your awareness. Then continually ask yourself: are the thoughts that you’re having right now likely to blossom into the action that you need to take in order to achieve your goals? If not, what better thoughts could you think instead? After all, what you gain in life is a direct result of what you’re thinking.
