The ABC’s of Alphabet, Google
You may have probably heard that Google now owns the Alphabet. Well, not exactly, but the company announced that it had they were restructuring and they have created a new parent company, Alphabet restructured and created a new parent company, “Alphabet”, which will include Google as one of the subsidiaries. Google’s plan to reorganize into a holding company called Alphabet is as creative as the company itself.
What is Alphabet? The alphabet is said to be a collection of companies. The largest of which will obviously be, Google. Google faces the challenge of sustaining its growth through innovation and meeting the expectations set by the investors for the company. Google has this ability to recruit and retain all the amazing talent, that just what no other company has been able to do, this is one of the most significant aspects of Google as the alphabet. Larry Page left his CEO position in Google, and now is the CEO in the parent company Alphabet, Sergei Brin is going to do what he did at Google, executive chairman is going to be Eric Schmidt and Ruth Porat was recently recruited from Morgan Stanley as the CFO.
When the search giant Google announced last week that it would become part of a larger parent company called Alphabet, some wondered about the kind of impact this would have on many small businesses and small business owners that use the same name for the new company. But the move is being supported by the investors, it is just the first step in fulfilling the company’s long-standing goal to ‘’make Google a long term success and the world a better place”.
The businesses that were not a part of Google’s core internet offerings will be going to Alphabet. Products that already were under Google like Google Maps, Search, YouTube, Android, etc. will be a part of Google only. The new parent will also be a parent to companies like Calico, Google’s capital investment and venture investment firms, Fiber, The Google X, Nest, etc.
All the existing Google shares will be automatically converted into the equal number of shares of Alphabet stock, so that’s a big relief for the investors. Starting this January, Google results will be separate from the rest of that of Alphabet. The names under which google shares are sold is GOOG and GOOGL.
The website of Alphabet is abc.xyz. This domain turned out to be owned by BMW and BMW publicly stated that it was not interested in selling it to anyone. One of the BMW representatives said that Google or an associative of theirs did not approach BMW to buy the domain from them, they did not even offer to buy it.
The name Alphabet is unique yet so simplistic. It means a collection and compilation of things we use to communicate in a language, one the most important innovations of humanity, the name Alphabet is the core as to how we use the search feature of Google.
So what are you waiting for, Google the new Alphabet!
